The importance of SEO is simple. Imagine you had a business card. That card is not useful to you or your group unless people are looking at it. The more the better. Just like you wouldn’t hide your business card in the couch cushion or throw it away in the trash can, you would not do that with your website.
As of now Google’s search engine by far rules most of the search engine traffic. So, the goal is to rank up top for your keywords just like your competitors do. Some keywords have high traffic volume and will there-for be harder to rank for. Some keywords have low traffic volume and will be easier to rank for. For example, ranking for “purple button” will be much more easier to rank for, versus something like “insurance plans”. Anyhow, SEO is the skill set that is used to achieve this goal. It is the way to empty your business card bucket from a high rise on a windy day.
